DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES PERFORMED

Before our trip we contacted institutions involved within the project activities, studied existing practical work in the municipalities showing interest to have an active participation in the project realization, collected and studied Serbian waste management laws and legal acts, as examples of good experiences in waste management in Serbia. During our stay in Bydgoszcz we visited the number of companies working in area of solid waste management.

Retraining visit to private waste disposal company Remondis, Bydgoszcz

Prof. Gaca and his team, organized for Serbian staff visit to private waste disposal company "Remondis“, which since 1994 has been collecting communal waste in the Bydgoszcz, and participates with 70% (app. 250000 habitants). It is the biggest from 6 company collecting communal waste in the city of Bydgoszcz. The company has 150 workers and 60 waste collecting tracks. Also, we have been introduced with modern waste separation plant equipment, where 30 workers extract app. 5.000 Mg/year of recyclables materials from municipal waste (plastic, paper/cardboard, PET bottles, metal, glass). Remondis dispose app. 70.000 Mg/year of waste to the landfill. 

 

 

Retraining visit to municipal plant for combustion of medical and hazardous waste

Prof. Gaca and the representative of the oncology hospital “Zaklad Medycyny Nuklearnej” in Bydgoszcz introduced our team with performances of small scale incineration plant for medical waste, capacity of 3Mg/day. During this retraining visit, Prof. Gaca acquainted as with the basic technical characteristics of the plant equipment, and introduced as with medical waste collecting and treatment process in Poland.

Retraining visit to municipal waste disposal company Zolwin-Wypaleniska

During this activity our team visited municipal solid waste disposal company "Zolwin-Wypaleniska" in Bydgoszcz. The representative of the company introduced us in detail with the process of collecting and separation of communal waste, where 120 workers is employed. 54 employees work of extracting of the 3.000 Mg/year recyclables materials from waste. As a part of the company, regional landfill is in function. In this site, on 50 ha, all waste management companies from the Region dispose app. 110.000 Mg/year of municipal waste.

 

 

Retraining visit to private recycling company Robac - GGC, Naklo

One of the most significant Polish private recycling company is "Robac GGC", Naklo, (for abroad known as EUROBAC). Robac collects waste from the hole Poland territory and processes secondary row materials to be acceptable for the market. President of the Company Mr Krzysztof Boniecki introduced our team with his company, working processes and explain us how the market of secondary row materials market works in Poland.

Retraining visit to private recycling company Zaptech, Inowroclaw

Middle scale recycling enterprise "Zaptech" is located in town Inowroclaw, 40 km from Bydgoszcz,. Director Mr Grzegorz Sorbanski introduced the Serbian team with the company producing area that is oriented toward recycling of used or damaged plastic materials (CDs, plastic parts from TVs, cars, …). Zapteh processes the plastic waste and produce plastic granulate and plastic folia as well. It is worthy to stress, that this company is excellent example of entrepreneurships in area of environmental protection because the Zaptech was funded by 4 EU programs for procurement of contemporary equipment and establishing of  ISO standards as well.

 

  

 

 
During our stay in Bydgoszcz we also had the meeting with the city representatives and with Mr. Grzegorz Boron, Head of Environmental Protection Units in Municipality of Bidgoszcz.
