The City of Bydgoszcz is the capital of the Kujawsko-Pomorski region with the population of  400.000 inhabitants. The cities Bydgoszcz and Kragujevac has been partner cities for 35 years and the City of Bydgoszcz is willing to transwer the knowledge obtained during the EU pre-accession and post-accession periods in the area of Enviromental Protection and Energy Efficiency to the City of Kragujevac. The City of Bydgoszcz is famous of the successful implementation of several projects dedicated to environmental protection, ecological policy and promotion of good practices in the field of nature.

The City has developed the following programmes and projects together with the Technological University of Bydgoszcz:

  • Annual Ecological Forum;

  • Training and seminar for citizens of Bydgoszcz aiming at dissemination of information about environmental protection policy;

  • Clean City - the local governmental program;

  • Among various project co-financed by EU the following play extremely significant role in ecological development of the City:

    • INCORE project – Bydgoszcz is among the first in Poland to have paid attention to the problem of managing polluted sites. The area around the old gas-works, located in the City centre participated in the project.

    • Bydgoszcz Water Supply and Sewerage Project – the City focuses on the several aspects in its current water supply and sewerage practices: improvement of operation reliability of water pipes network, liquidation of the sewer ex-filtration effect into the ground from the sewerage system, obtaining the parameters comparable with EU directives on  drinking water: 98/613/EEC, 75/440/EEC, 80/778/EEC, 91/271EEC, 91/692/EEC and 75/442/EEC.
